Management
To sum up the last weeks; awesome! The management module has given us great tools for project management but, for me, the most important experiences can be applied also in my private life.
Again, I must say that doing the workshadowing at Söderhavet was a lucky strike. To follow the everydaylife at a webbagency and experience it as funny, interesting and challenging really motivates the rest of my time at hyper.
We also red books and made workshops for the rest of the group, from our most important conclusions. I´m impressed by us! Good wokshops.
There was also a good evaluation and I appriciate this more and more. Why stood this evaluation out from earlier evaluations? I think that we´ve grown since we started at hyper last year, and we reflect and learn from mistakes in a more and more mature way. I´ve started to use continuing evaluation as a tool as a freelancer as well. From every work I try to figure out how I could do stuff in an another way, where did I spend the most time and why, communication w client and so on. I´ve already found some (embaressing) blind spots that I must change.
What more in my life? I´ll move to "south of south" (sthlm) in mars because my love are moving to sthlm this summer. We´re also making plans for a very small WEDDING. We both have exciting familyconditions that will make this a true social experiment :) In my mind I´m still 22 but when a younger classmate at hyper wants me to projectmanage the next groupassignment "because I´m old" (awesome...), turning 30 yrs old in april and getting married in july its time to update that selfimage. I have issues of time like "stuff I want to do before I die", but I´m pretty relaxed with aging in itself. I´ll see if I feel different the 16th of April!

Workshadowing
First day of workshadowing! Daniel and me are making our shadowing at SÖDERHAVET. Other companies that are represented and have taken project management specialization students are Ottoboni Gruop, North Kingdom, Grow, Satchi & Satchi and more.
They are really nice to us, unpretentious and very professional. We will shadow their organisation, workflow, roles... pretty much everything and we will learn a lot from them! After our first day we have loads of notes and it seems impossible to sum it up in a short document about what we´ve learned...
This is the best thing we´ve done at hyper so far, in my meaning.

They say that we look the same, the "twin time-estimators". What do you think?

Evaluation 19-23rd of January
Wow. What could be so important and in need of evaluation? Nothing. Everything. My everyday life.
All seconds of computer startups, minutes of upgrading, hours of planning and days of designing/coding/planning. I want to optimize my workflow because I´m not satisfied. I´m way too tired and my schedule is not working for me - even when I follow it. Things needs to be changed.
1. I´m sitting too long at my computer. After a while I find myself moving around textfields in my interfacedesign without any goal. Solution: A 2h alarmbeep in iCal. When I start editing css I start my alarmclock. I can focus and be productive about that time.
2. I need to clean up my files and folders. Sometimes it keeps me from start up new projects. I know that I will use a boring hour to find material to the new project. Better system on my folders!
3. My schedule is too tight and not built for changes. I need a bigger picture for my work. When I get in the flow for my portfolio I don´t want to feel bad because its time for something else. According to a schedule I wrote for a month ago "project time wednesday 17.00-19.00". I need a bigger picture like time for A/week; 4 hrs. Time for B/week; 6 hrs. And so on. My work needs to be flexible! Get the work done.
But actually I´ve been more productive this week than ever:
- I´ve started up the work with a number of printobjects for Scandinavian Pool, deadline february.
- I´m done with cms-framework and interfacedesign for my portfolio.
- I´ve done several tutorials for Illustrator including the mesh tool, 3D-revolve function and how to make templates for complex fills addable to type.
- Almost done with my book, a specialization management task.
- Cleared a weboffice to do workshadowing for next week.
- Been to planningmeetings for the party that comes with our class-site, and the individual tasks that comes with that.
- Started up this forsaken blog again...
Next week I´ll be just as effective as this week, but not so tired with help from my conclusions this week.
I feel pretty satisfied w myself right now, to get all the completed or started stuff listed like this! You should do the same. What have you done this week?

Project management #1
I read a really good book in the specialization module! Check it out here.
"Projektledning - att leda och lära i en ofullkomlig värld" by the danish Sören Christensen and Kristian Kreiner. I don´t know if it´s translated to english.
The core as far as I´ve red; projects is to its nature different from byrocratic tasks. A project is in itself different from the usual, suspected, easy planned tasks that, say, is typical for big industries or byrocratic hiarcies. Why is that important? Because we too often tend to force the project to something suspected. Let the project be a project but get tools so handle the insecurness that follows!
I´m analyzing earlier project of hyper and some freelacing jobs I´ve done. For example; the nature of a project is that it has changing conditions. Sometimes I´ve been to fast to decide what to project should be, not grow forth while doing. Its really a challenge to set goals that are inspiring, satisfies your client (they should know what to get when money is involved ;)) but still are open for changing conditions that could make the final product even better than the client expected it to be.
For the swedes I´ll post a page about the distinguishing feature between second (industrialism) and third (new companies in a new ecenomy) wave of organisations. Click to view the whole page;
